Strengthening the Energy Future of Ukraine:

Strategic Investments and Sustainable Development from Wyoming

Who we are

Bighorn Basin Energy Development Company LLC is a new US private equity fund specializing in investing in energy projects in Ukraine. The fund’s goal is to help Ukraine unlock its energy potential and create a lasting positive impact by investing in the region.

Why we invest

The extensive destruction of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure as a result of the war with Russia has created an urgent need for additional sources of electricity and a decentralized generation system. Prior to the invasion, Ukraine had about 55 gigawatts (GW) of generation capacity, but estimates suggest that more than half of this capacity has been destroyed or is under occupation. As a result, the available capacity is insufficient to meet the country’s electricity needs.

Our strategy

Bighorn Basin Energy, based in Wyoming, USA, uses American technology and expertise to implement a unique investment strategy that aims to achieve high performance and strengthen Ukraine’s energy independence.

Our projects

892 MW in CHP and solar power: Expansion of Ukraine's energy sector with 100+ new facilities

Installation of more than 100 combined heat and power (CHP) and solar power plants (SPP) with a total capacity of 892 MW in different regions of Ukraine. Electricity will be sold at market prices through the Ukrainian Energy Exchange. So far, 3.5 MW of solar and 4 MW of CHP capacity have been commissioned. Another 67 MW of CHP capacity is planned to be launched by the end of 2024, and 49 MW of solar power by mid-2025. The distribution of the plants across different regions helps reduce the risk of localized failures and improves the logistics of electricity distribution across the grid.
